Overview
A private equity firm acquired a leading vendor management software provider and needed to carve out its technical infrastructure from the former parent company.
The acquired SaaS leader also needed to quickly partner with PIXID, a European counterpart, to become a global leader in VMS solutions and meet aggressive post-acquisition growth goals.
Codingscape led the cloud migration and modernization of the SaaS leader’s core technologies.
Codingscape's speed of delivery – achieving in months what often takes a year or more – was instrumental to meeting the private equity firm’s EBITDA and adjusted profitability goals for their newly acquired SaaS company.
Engagement Stats
- Met private equity firm’s goals for EBITDA and adjusted profitability
- Onshore 12-person cross-functional team including a fractional CTO, product managers, senior cloud engineers, and UX designers
- Separated SaaS leader’s tech stack from previous company and migrated core services to AWS
- Migrated backend services away from .NET to modern cloud-native architectures
- Delivered UX and usability improvements to support global scale
- Advised on strategic product direction and implemented agile delivery practices to support rapid iteration
Problem
Following the acquisition, the SaaS company faced a dual challenge: they needed to rapidly establish technical independence from their former parent company while simultaneously transforming their outdated systems.
- Complete post-acquisition tech stack carve out from the parent company while maintaining continuous business operations
- Modernize outdated .NET architecture and frontend to enable integration with PIXID and support global market expansion
- Accelerate technical transformation to qualify as a one-time carveout expense, enhancing EBITDA metrics and meeting private equity firm’s value creation timeline
The private equity firm partnered with Codingscape to complete the technical separation while modernizing their newly acquired SaaS leader’s tech stack to meet global expansion goals.
Solution
Codingscape recommended a two-track strategy including both cloud migration for carve out completion and product modernization for global growth.
For the cloud migration track, this included conducting a full technical audit, separating infrastructure and migrating core services to AWS, and establishing DevOps practices with CI/CD pipelines.
The product modernization track involved rebuilding the frontend in React, beginning migration of backend services from .NET to modern cloudnative architectures, and delivering UX improvements to support global scale. Codingscape also advised on strategic product direction and implemented agile delivery practices for rapid iteration.
Codingscape deployed a 12-person cross-functional team including a fractional CTO, product managers, engineers, and UX designers to execute this strategy.
Work began in August 2023 and continues as an ongoing partnership, with Phase 1 completed and now supporting modernization and international expansion.
