Claude 3.5 Sonnet - faster, cheaper, easier to use

Not long after GPT-4o impressed everyone, Anthropic responded with launching Claude 3.5 Sonnet. It’s one of the most powerful LLMs – excelling at code generation and making it easy to build prototypes with Artifacts. It’s much faster, cheaper, and intelligent than all the Claude 3 models and it’s just behind GPT-4o in overall performance.

Before OpenAI followed up with GPT-4o mini, it was the most affordable LLM in its class.

But for many using it, Claude 3.5 feels significantly better than any other LLM because of its main feature – Artifacts. It’s basically an integrated development environment (IDE) now and anyone can quickly prototype a mobile app, game, or analytics dashboard.

Here’s what you need to know.

Claude 3.5 Sonnet is faster, cheaper, and smarter

Claude 3.5 Sonnet outperforms all of Anthropic’s other models (including Claude 3 Opus) with the speed and cost of their mid-tier Sonnet. The model costs $3 per million input tokens and $15 per million output tokens.

It has a 200K token context window and sets new industry benchmarks for graduate-level reasoning (GPQA), undergraduate-level knowledge (MMLU), and coding proficiency (HumanEval).

Claude 3.5 Sonnet is twice as fast as Claude 3 Opus. With the decreased cost, this makes it one of the best models for customer support, automating workflows, and any major enterprise AI use case.

Claude 3.5 Sonnet vs GPT-4o

While Anthropic’s own benchmarks put it ahead of GPT-4o in almost every category, Claude 3.5 Sonnet is just behind on Chatbot Arena Leaderboard. But not being in that top spot doesn’t make it feel any less impressive.

Many people prefer Claude 3.5 Sonnet for writing high-quality content and text output. Anthropic infused their new models with a better grasp of nuance, humor, and complex instruction.

It’s especially good at code generation. In an internal agentic coding evaluation, Claude 3.5 Sonnet solved 64% of problems, outperforming Claude 3 Opus which solved 38%.  Claude 3.5 Sonnet can independently write, edit, and execute code. It also handles code translations with ease – making it an ideal copilot for updating legacy apps and migrating code.

Anthropic made this highly visible with an update to the Claude.ai interface – Artifacts.

Now you can generate content like code snippets, text documents, or website designs, these Artifacts appear in a dedicated window alongside your conversations.

People are building video games that used to be extremely complex in the new Claude 3.5 Artifacts interface.

Instead of just a Q&A chatbot that gives you text and images you can now prototype a mobile app in React in 15 minutes. Go try it yourself. Ask it to build a website or an app and see how fast you get to a basic product you could demo.

Claude 3.5 excels at vision tasks

Claude 3.5 Sonnet is even better at interpreting charts and graphs than Claude 3 Opus – making it an ideal tool for building analytics views, presentations, and dashboards.

It can also pull text from incomplete or imperfect images – making it shine in retail, logistics, and financial services.

Claude 3.5 is available for free

Go try it now. Claude 3.5 Sonnet is now available for free on Claude.ai and the Claude iOS app, while Claude Pro and Team plan subscribers can access it with significantly higher rate limits.

Anthropic also stuck to their safety and privacy commitments with Claude 3.5 – red teaming assessments have concluded that Claude 3.5 Sonnet remains at ASL-2.

Claude 3.5 Haiku and Claude 3.5 Opus are coming later this year.

How do I hire senior AI engineers to build with Claude 3.5 Sonnet?

You could spend the next 6-18 months planning to recruit and build an AI team (if you can afford it), but in that time, you won’t be building any AI capabilities. That’s why Codingscape exists.

We can assemble a senior AI development team for you in 4-6 weeks and start building your apps with Claude 3.5 Sonnet. It’ll be faster to get started, more cost-efficient than internal hiring, and we’ll deliver high-quality results quickly.

Zappos, Twilio, and Veho are just a few companies that trust us to build their software and systems with a remote-first approach.

You can schedule a time to talk with us here. No hassle, no expectations, just answers.
